Advertising Guidelines

Your advertisement must meet the NBDA® and FTC guidelines. The NBDA® will issue an agreement that will support and reflect the below information once you have submitted your advertisement for approval. It may take up to 14 business day to approve an advertising request. Submit request below.

NBDA Advertising Guidelines

1. Alignment with NBDA’s Mission and Values

Inclusivity: All advertising content must promote inclusivity and reflect NBDA’s commitment to supporting Black families and maternal health equity.

Health Advocacy: Advertisers must align with NBDA’s mission to promote holistic maternal health, safety, and wellness, particularly for Black women and communities.

Anti-Racism: Any companies advertising with NBDA must demonstrate a commitment to dismantling systemic racism in maternal health and beyond.

2. Content Guidelines

Respectful Representation: Advertisements must portray accurate and respectful depictions of Black families, doulas, and health professionals, without reinforcing harmful stereotypes.

Diversity: Companies should feature diverse models, scenarios, and language that reflect the broad spectrum of Black maternal experiences.

Health Information Accuracy: All health-related claims in advertisements must be scientifically accurate and verifiable. Misleading or harmful health information will not be tolerated.

3. Prohibited Content

No Exploitative Imagery: Ads cannot use exploitative or traumatic images related to Black maternal health challenges.

No Harmful Products: NBDA will not accept advertisements from companies that promote products or services harmful to maternal health, including but not limited to tobacco, alcohol, or unsafe health supplements.

Political or Divisive Content: NBDA does not allow political advertisements that do not align with its mission of supporting maternal health or ads that might alienate the community.

4. Transparency & Integrity

Full Disclosure: Any sponsored content or partnerships must be clearly disclosed as such, ensuring full transparency with the NBDA audience.

Ethical Marketing: Companies must demonstrate ethical marketing practices, including truth in advertising and fair pricing.

5. Community Engagements

Support for the Black Birth Community: Preference will be given to companies that actively support initiatives related to Black maternal health, wellness, education, and empowerment.

Partnership Opportunities: Advertisers are encouraged to offer value to the NBDA community, such as exclusive discounts, educational content, or community support programs.

Approval Process

Review by NBDA: All ads will undergo a review process to ensure compliance with these guidelines. NBDA reserves the right to reject any advertising content that does not align with its values.

Ongoing Partnerships: Companies must remain in good standing with NBDA values and maintain ethical practices throughout the duration of the advertising relationship.

Advertising Formats and Specifications

Ad Placement: Advertisements may appear across NBDA’s digital platforms, newsletters, or social media channels, depending on the nature of the agreement.

Creative Assets: Advertisers must provide high-quality creative assets (banners, videos, images) that meet technical specifications set by NBDA.
